Awards

The Jewish Federation of Madison gives out a number of awards at our Annual Meeting recognizing outstanding service and leadership within our community.

Alex Temkin Distinguished Service Award

Established in 1974 and named in memory of former Madison Jewish Community Council/Jewish Federation of Madison president, Alex Temkin, the recipient of this award has a long and committed record of service to the Jewish Federation of Madison stretching over many years; serving as chair of several major committees, involvement as an officer and Board member, and involvement in leadership positions in the campaign. The recipient has demonstrated outstanding service in special, innovative or emergency programs and is respected and recognized as a community leader.

Andrea J. Stein Jewish Community Professional Award

The Stein family and the Jewish Federation of Madison have established the "Andrea J. Stein Jewish Community Professional Award" to be awarded annually to a Jewish community professional that promotes Jewish community outreach, engagement, and action that best serves Klal Yisrael. The award comes with $250 stipend from the Andrea J. Stein Jewish Community Outreach Fund to be used by the awardee for career development. The award will be made yearly by the Jewish Federation of Madison Executive Committee with input from the Jewish Federation of Madison staff and the Stein family. The first award will be given in 2014.

Ben Minkoff Volunteer Service Award

Named in memory of former MJCC president and founder of Camp Shalom Ben Minkoff, the recipient of this award is to have a record of committed service to the Jewish Federation of Madison (formerly Madison Jewish Community Council) and the Madison Jewish community stretching over a period of time doing volunteer work beyond its usual definition. This should have been a one person task, frequently very time consuming in public relations, program coordination, continuing assistance in a specific area or through special resources.

Miriam Singer Sulman Young Leadership Award

Named in memory of Miriam Singer Sulman in 1975, a much admired and dynamic young Madison Jewish Community Council/Jewish Federation of Madison leader, the recipient of this award is enabled to attend the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly through an endowment fund established by Miriam's parents, Isadore and Ida Singer z”l.
