Betty Shovers

With great sadness, we write to inform you of the death on November 24 of Betty Shovers, mother of Marc (Jan Loeb) and Steve Shovers, grandmother of Sam and Ben Shovers. She was 98.

All those attending in person for the funeral service or shiva must be fully vaccinated and masked.

Funeral Service
The funeral will be on Sunday, November 28 at 1:00 pm at Cress Funeral Services, 6021 University Avenue, Madison, WI. Burial will follow at Beit Olamim. All those attending in person must be fully vaccinated and masked.

Beth Israel Center is hoping to arrange for shomrim (watchers) to sit with the body between this morning and Sunday morning, including over Shabbat. For more info and to sign up >

Shiva
The family will sit shiva from Sunday, November 28, following the funeral through Erev Shabbat, Dec. 3. The family will follow BIC's regular evening minyan schedule and would like the community's help to make a minyan at 5:45 pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

Sunday evening, 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm at Oakwood Village West, in the Nakoma/Westmorland Room, in the Heritage Oaks building. Check-in at the electronic kiosk before entry. You must be vaccinated to attend in-person and wear your mask the entire time you are there. The family will be sitting in a large and well-ventilated room. The community will daven together - in person and on Zoom - at 5:45 pm.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 5:15 pm - 7:15 pm, will be at the familiy's home and on Zoom. Due to COVID concerns, the family is limiting the number of people in their home each evening (you must call in advance to attend) and requiring that all those attending in person should be fully vaccinated and wear masks. The community will daven together - in person and on Zoom - at 5:45 pm.

Thursday at 5:45 pm, the family will participate in the online BIC evening minyan.
