With great sadness, we write to inform you that Fred Fenster passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024. He was 90 years old.
Fred is survived by his three children, David, Mark and Rachelle. He will be buried in Sweet Cemetery, East Bristol, next to his beloved wife, Valmai Kirkham Fenster, who passed away in 1984.
A celebration of life service is being planned for a future time.
Fred was a revered artist and UW-Madison professor of Art Metal. We are fortunate to have one of his pieces at the Jewish Federation of Madison office—the mezuzah he created, which is affixed to the doorpost of the Max Weinstein Jewish Community Building entrance.
